BIOGRAPHY

Aug 2, 1951 Born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Grew up in Toronto, Ontario.
1969-75Attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA.
1976Began teaching at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Toronto, Ontario where he is currently Professor.
Developed an ongoing art practice in Toronto involving photography, artist books and digital images.
1979-1992Founding Member and Treasurer of Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography, an artist-run gallery and photographic workspace in Toronto.
2002Sramek held 2 sessions as Coordinator of the OCAD Off Campus Studies in Florence, and following a 1 year appointment as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Art is currently Professor of Photography, He continues to work on various photo and book projects. Recently elected Lifetime Member of Gallery 44.
